Head of Supply Chain and Operations
HotGreen Solutions
About HotGreen
Most of the goods consumed on a daily basis have gone through some form of industrial heating process, collectively responsible for 19% of global emissions. Yet for over 150-years a solution has existed which can electrify process heat: industrial heat pumps.
HotGreen exists to make heat pumps commercially-viable to industry. With smart-engineering solutions and a patent-pending compressor technology, we are making heat pumps a competitive option versus traditional boilers: saving plants money by switching to green steam.
Job description
We are hiring a Head of Supply Chain and Operations whose fundamental role is to be accountable for the overall manufacturing and supply chain from product design through to delivery to the customer.
The role is enormously varied from day-to-day execution to support our first deployment, to medium and long term strategic planning to support the company to scale up manufacturing in line with customer demand.
The short term focus of the role in to source the external parts and manufacturing capabilities for our first heat pump, and deliver that heat pump on-time, on-budget and to-spec. The long term focus of the role is to determine a longer-term manufacturing and supply chain strategy, and build out company operations and processes to support this.
You will be joining a team of 3. By nature of being an early-stage, fast-moving start-up, you will not initially have direct reports, but you will need to hire in time to develop out your team. You will report into the CEO, and work directly with the CTO and senior heat pump engineer.
Alongside being able to run a killer spreadsheet (or PM tool of choice), we need an individual who will regularly pick up the phone to suppliers, navigate their way to decision makers, challenge unnecessary processes, negotiate deals in the best interest of the company, and instinctively identify the minimal path to impact. We want someone who thrives in getting-stuff-done, and who has an infectious hunger and urgency that translates into their relationships. They need to be able to apply the right levels of process that is suitable for our early stage, while setting up the foundations for the future company we will be.
The job is primarily an in-person role. We are identifying a site at present in the broader Greater London (West/South West) area. We have to date been based in Datchet.
- Manage the project timeline and budget for the demonstrator and subsequent heat pump builds, working effectively between the CTO and CEO to help deliver on time and to budget. Effectively utilising spreadsheets (or PM tool of choice) to anticipate and communicate delays, forecast budget requirements and identify impact on overall business plans.
- Develop the near-term and medium-term end-to-end manufacturing and supply strategy to align supply chain capabilities with HotGreen’s commercial projections and growth ambitions (including determining in-sourcing versus out-sourcing strategy).
- Coordinate the assembly and integration of sub-parts for the heat pump demonstrator, ensuring all external and internal elements are delivered and assembled as scheduled.
- Build strong relationships with key suppliers and manufacturing partners, overseeing contract negotiation and performance.
- Oversee and continuously improve operational processes, identify bottlenecks, and ensure effective reporting and communication with other teams.
- Source and manage suppliers for components and contract manufacturing, establishing robust processes for contracts and supplier vetting.
- Assess and manage supply chain risks, developing contingency plans and alternative sourcing strategies to ensure supply resilience.
- Support on-time, to-spec delivery of prototypes and first production units; manage inventory and logistics.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Proven leadership experience in supply chain, procurement, and operations within manufacturing, climate tech, or industrial environments.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex multi-part supplier relationships and negotiate robust, performance-based supplier and partner contracts.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and risk management capabilities, with experience developing supplier assessment and supply chain resilience programmes.
- Experience building or scaling supply chains for prototypes and pilot programs into commercial production.
- Solid knowledge of inventory, logistics; adept at driving efficiency, cost management, and deadline compliance.
- Working knowledge of HVAC/Refrigeration procurement practices and supply chains, and regulations within these.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to engage internal team members, senior management, and external partners.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Manufacturing, Science or related field; further certifications in operations, supply chain, lean/six sigma are beneficial.
- Willingness to travel for site surveys, installation support, and customer meetings (domestic/international as needed).
- Right to work in the UK
If you fulfil some but not all of the criteria above, but believe you would be well suited to support an on-time to-spec delivery of our heat pump systems, then we encourage you to still apply.
How to apply

Within your cover letter, answer the following three questions:
1.Why are you interested in applying for HotGreen?
2.What experience do you have that will enable HotGreen’s first industrial deployment to be a success?
3.Why are most FOAK deployments late and over budget, and how can this be avoided?
Applications to any other email address or via LinkedIn will not be reviewed.

We will be beginning interviews on the 6th of October. As such, if we have sufficiently high quality candidates apply, we will be closing the funnel to new candidates.
Who we are
We (Georgia and Andrew) created HotGreen out of a frustration with the lack of affordable green heating solutions for industry. With industry facing mounting cost pressures and shrinking margins alongside the climate crisis, we identified an urgent need for technologies that enabled profitable decarbonization of industrial heat - helping plants save money while cutting emissions. This comes from a fundamental belief that only by making decarbonization profitable and technologies accessible can the transition to net zero be accelerated across industrial sectors.
As engineers, we believe technology can provide an economically-driven pathway that doesn't rely on subsidies or regulation to achieve mass industrial decarbonization. The industrial heat we're targeting - low and mid temperature ranges below 250°C - represents 10% of global emissions. We're building the most commercially viable heat pump to tackle this massive opportunity, creating solutions that industry is actively incentivized to adopt and that will finally retire fossil-fuel powered boilers.
Our values
As a team, we think of ourselves as playing ‘Jazz’. Andrew and I as co-founders have very minimal overlapping skills. We trust each other with our respective instruments and parts in the piece, and lean into playing music that’s never been played before and without a musical score. While each of us can respectively hold an incredible ‘solo’, collectively we can create something exceptional. We are looking to bring on new ‘band members’ who are exceptional at their respective skillsets, but whom can also work well as part of the team and complement those around them.
HotGreen has been built with the following values:
• Bold: We are bold in our ambitions, and unafraid to look, act and think differently to the fossil-fuel powered boiler industry, or to our other heat pump allies. We are not afraid to go where others have not.
• Simple, transparent and direct: Simplification runs through everything we do, from the design of our systems to the way we communicate. We actively identify simpler pathways, work hard to avoid overcomplication, and put effort into communicating in a way that is straightforward and concise.
• Impact-focused: We relentlessly focus our work on the outcome in mind and the impact we are looking to achieve. We say no and set boundaries on tasks which do not support impact.
• Reliable and customer-oriented: We are open, honest and transparent about what we are able to do and achieve. We are endlessly curious about our customers, their needs and desires, and how they work. We are committed to delivering excellent results for our customers.
• Cross-domain problem-solvers: We are pragmatic problem solvers, who iterate, innovate and work our way to solving problems large and small. We find our way to solutions regardless of whether those problems lie inside or outside our field of expertise and responsibility.
• Uncompromising excellence: We believe the climate crisis and our customers’ demands nothing less than exceptional work. We maintain high standards across every dimension of what we do and seek out colleagues, partners, and suppliers who elevate our collective performance.
